AYUDH COLLABORATES WITH UNESCO MGIEP FOR “DIVERSITY IN EUROPE” 2019

AYUDH Collaborates with UNESCO MGIEP for “DIVERSITY IN EUROPE” 2019 – An (independently organised) Talk ing Across Generations on Education (iTAG ) event held during AYUDH’S 15 Annual European Youth Summit, “Celebrating Diversity 2019”.

The highlight of the 13 European Youth Summit in 2017 was the

result of a month-long collaboration between AYUDH and UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP). (https://mgiep.unesco.org/) For the first time ever, AYUDH independently organised a Talking Across Generations on Education (iTAG ) event culminating in an inter-generational dialogue between motivated youth, and senior decision makers.

This year, MGIEP (UNESCO’s category 1 Research Institute that focuses on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4.7 towards education for building peaceful and sustainable societies across the world) has approached AYUDH to host an iTAG event and contribute towards the #kindnessmatters (https://mgiep.unesco.org/kindness) campaign. “Diversity in Europe” will be the concluding event of AYUDH’s 15th annual European Youth Summit “Celebrate Diversity” , (http://www.europeanyouthsummit.org/) addressing issues related to Diversity and Inclusion, pluralism and civic engagement for a more tolerant society. The Summit is supported by the ERASMUS+ Youth in Action Programme of the European Union.

A moderated dialogue will take place on AYUDH’s social media channels in the month before the summit, where young global citizens will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect upon four key questions. In 2017, our moderated dialogue on social media gathered 210,000 views and generated more than 8,000 responses. This process will be moderated and summarised by AYUDH team members. Equipped with the outcomes from the online global dialogue, the 250 summit participants will join international experts to discuss these questions further in four working groups at the symposium, followed by a moderated panel dialogue reflecting on the outcomes of the discussions.

Building upon the successful iTAG format designed by the MGIEP, our aim is to engage young people in a process of reflection, critical thinking and open exchange on Diversity and Inclusion, both amongst themselves and with senior decision makers. We are thrilled to collaborate once again with UNESCO MGIEP, and hope that the iTAG AYUDH platform which involves bringing together youth from our organisation with senior decision makers, yields fruitful dialogue and thought-provoking discussion.
